Milk Testing Human Mother's Milk Testing for Pesticides GuaranTek is embarking on becoming the first laboratory in the world, capable of testing mother's milk for pesticide and chemical contamination. In order to build a large database of information we are offering FREE testing to the first 500 respondents. We are testing the milk for absence of pesticides, PCB's and heavy metals. Pesticides were developed as nerve gas during WWII. Since the 1940's male fertility has been dropping, as opposed to the rate of cancer, which is rising. IQ's are dropping around the Great Lakes regions, this may be because pesticides can act as endocrine interruptors. Pesticide consumption in food may be the cause of some illnesses and concerns in certain individuals. When breast feeding, this process cleans out the mother's body, and concentrates these chemicals in their child's body. This is called bio-concentration. If the pesticide can be identified then a particular food can be eliminated from your diet. Additionally, it may not be appropriate for some mothers to breast feed their children. In a recent book called "What to expect when expecting", it talks about PCB's in the great Lakes water. It recommends that if you live in this area and have consumed a large amount of fish out of the Great Lakes, you shouldn't breast feed your children, due to concerns about contamination. We feel this is an important service that needs to be provided to our society.
